Orb Plushcraft Review
What You'll Find on This Page
Orb Plushcrafts arrive as craft kits. There is a foam body center and many small pieces of fabric that get pressed into the foam using a tool to create fur for an animal. Kits usually also contain eyes and special pieces to make noses, ears, manes, and tails.
This is a great toy for children who enjoy crafting. It develops fine motor skills, and you don’t have to worry about paint or glitter ending up everywhere.
What Age are ORB Plush Crafts Best For?
While this toy is advertised as being for ages 5 and up, I find that it can be pretty challenging for five year olds. Children aged 8-10 years old have the necessary fine motor skills, and are still young enough to enjoy the finished product. For this reason, we recommend it most for 8 year olds, 9 year olds, and 10 year olds. That being said, it’s still an appropriate gift for 5, 6, and 7 year olds with good motor skills.
Why We Love This as a Birthday Gift
We first discovered this toy when someone gave a kit to my daughter for her birthday. It was such a hit that we wound up buying more for her to complete.
These kits are easy to use, accessible, they don’t make a mess (see my single disclaimer below), and there are no sharp edges. They take up quite a bit of time, so they can buy parents a little quiet time. That’s always a bonus in my book!
Things to Consider before Buying
While I consider this a zero mess craft, it does include a lot of tiny little pieces of fabric. I think it’s no problem for most households; these won’t break your vacuum or make pets sick or anything like that. But if you have someone who really cannot tolerate any kind of mess, stick with books and one piece toys for gifts.
